There are conditions in China to release it! Synopsys 3.5 billion USD Acquisition Ansys Transactions

Synopsys has been approved by China's supervisory authority to purchase Ansys for US$35 billion, ensuring the company's dominant position in the field of chip design software.

The General Administration of Market Supervision and Administration of China stated in a statement that it has agreed to this merger case with certain conditions. It is reported that the conditions for approval include prohibiting Synopsys from ending existing customer contracts or rejecting Chinese customers' continued contract requests.

This transaction was announced in early 2024 and has been approved by the European and American competent authorities, although it has received attention from global supervisory agencies. Since China is one of the world's largest semiconductor markets, if American companies want to obtain anti-insurance review and approval of mergers in China, especially technology industries, they are often affected by political struggles between China and the United States, so the approval of the Beijing authorities is of great importance.

The United States has previously notified Synopsys Technology and other chip design software companies that it must obtain permission from the US government before exporting products such as software and semiconductor chemicals to China, but ultimately lifted the EDA ban this month.

Electronic design automation software (EDA) refers to the design method that uses computer assisted design (CAD) software to complete the functional design, integration, verification, and physical design of ultra-large integrated circuit (VLSI) chips, including layout, layout, layout, design rule inspection and other processes.

EDA software is one of the basic constructions of semiconductor industries, and its main manufacturers include American IHP, Synopsys Technology and Westmen.
