Newcastle United welcomes new technical director Sudashan, who will lead the club's football data operations.

He will work closely with head coach Eddie Howe and his coaching team and work closely with the club's performance, medical care, analytical, methodological and recruitment teams. His role is to apply data-driven practices to all sports departments in the men’s, women’s teams, and youth training camps.

Sudashan previously served as director of football intelligence in Italian team Atlanta. During his tenure, Atlanta ranked in the top five in Serie A for three consecutive seasons, winning the UEFA Cup and reaching the Italian Cup final. Prior to that, he served as head of sports data science at Portugal’s team Benfica. In five seasons, the Benfica men's team won the Portuguese Super League championship and reached the quarterfinals of the Champions League and the UEFA Champions League; while the Benfica women's team won two domestic championships. Meanwhile, Benfica Youth Training Camp reached the Youth Champions League final twice and won the championship in the 2021/22 season.

In addition to work experience at the club, Sudashan teaches data-driven decision-making courses for FIFA's advanced education programs and the Business School of the Professional Football Players Association.

Sudashan said: "I am honored to join Newcastle United and become the club's technical director. In my career, I have had the honor of working with clubs with a passionate fan base, and Newcastle stands out for its unique connection between teams, cities and fans. I look forward to working with the club's talented staff to find out our competitive advantage. Most importantly, I can't wait to experience the unparalleled game day atmosphere at St James' Park Stadium and be part of this proud football family and community."
