Tosa is a large Japanese breed of fighting dogs, which is a hybrid of native and Western fighting dogs. Tosa has a strong body, red or black fur, and a strong, stubborn and calm personality. They are excellent fighting dogs and companions, able to stay calm and persist in intense confrontation. Tosa's bite force is as high as 130 kilograms, nearly twice that of humans. They are very loyal and obedient to their owners and family members, but are very indifferent and hostile to strangers and other animals, and will attack without giving in if they feel provocation or insults. Tosa needs to be rigorously trained and managed from an early age, otherwise it may become violent and uncontrollable.
